What is Privacy Protection?

When you register a domain name with Studio 457, the Whois of your domain name lists your personal information (such as Name, Company Name, Address, Telephone Number, Email Address) as Contact Details for that domain name. This information becomes available to anyone who performs a Whois lookup of your domain name.

Your personal information is therefore at risk from being manipulated by data miners, who can then target you via either junk email, prank telephone calls, postal messages, fax messages, etc..

Using Studio 457's Privacy Protection service, you can immediately put a stop to such abuse. When this service for your domain name is enabled, we replace your Contact Details in the Whois information with our generic contact details, thus, masking your personal contact details.

Important: With the exception of the following - all domain names registered through Studio 457 have Privacy Protection enabled by default. This is free of charge. If for some reason you do not wish to utilize this valuable service, please open a new support ticket and we will disable it for you.

Privacy Protection is not available for the following domain names due to restrictions enforced through ICANN’s contract with the applicable Sponsors/Registries.

  • .us
  • .in (including .co.in, .net.in, .org.in, .gen.in, .firm.in, .ind.in)
  • .eu, .uk (including .co.uk, .me.uk, .org.uk)
  • .asia
  • .coop
